Chelsea Physic and The Olympic Park.

Hey guys!! Yesterday was another very interesting day, dedicated to the rich history of England. We started our day at Chelsea Physic Garden, which was originally a place for apothecaries to bring their medicinal plants to be cultivated. Really like a medicine factory.

They had the cutest entrance way.

And a variety of greenhouses that housed interesting specimens. This was an entire house dedicated to geraniums. I was able to find my plant of the day, a previous assignment!

This was a tropical greenhouse with cocoa, and in this case vanilla orchids.

We talked a bit about the technological advances that had to be made in order to preserve and protect plants. Like this pocket sized greenhouse.

This is just a cute picture. The flats in the back cost around 18,000 pounds a week (almost 100,000 a month a]American)

At the end of our tour we had an amazing lunch in the café. And tea, of course!

The Olympic park was cool also because of the rich history that is there. We had a lovely tour guide show us the park which is approximately 500 acres of reclaimed industrial park turned garden/park. Our guide talked at length about how difficult it was to relocate some of the people and how public opinion had to be unified to support such a massive project.

Seeing an Olympic park really gives you a grasp of what can be accomplished when humans work together. Simply incredible.
